Health Coverage & the Uninsured
This category includes the health insurance status of the states population (those with various types of health coverage or who are uninsured), and demographic information (such as income, race/ethnicity, age, gender) for those who are uninsured, have employer-based insurance, or Medicaid.
Medicare
This category includes information about states' aged and disabled Medicare beneficiaries, such as enrollment, demographics (such as age, gender, race/ethnicity), spending, other sources of health coverage, managed care participation, and use of services.
- Part B Income-Related Monthly Adjustment (IRMAA)
Data from the Social Security Administration and the Internal Revenue Service on the number of enrollees subject to Medicare Part B Income-Related Monthly Adjustment Amounts (IRMAA) in 2007. Data are as of November 16, 2006 for all states.

Healthcare Quality—State Snapshots, 2006
AHRQ's annual State Snapshots is based on data drawn from more than 30 sources, including government surveys, health care facilities and health care organizations, which provide State-specific health care quality information including strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement. The SID contain the inpatient discharge abstracts in participating States, translated into a uniform format to facilitate multi-State comparisons and analyses. The SID encompass about 90 percent of all U.S. community hospital discharges. Some States include discharges from specialty facilities, such as acute psychiatric hospitals. The SID contain a core set of clinical and nonclinical information on all patients, regardless of payer, including persons covered by Medicare, Medicaid, private insurance, and the uninsured. In addition to the core set of uniform data elements common to all SID, some include other elements, such as the patient's race. community hospital discharges. Children’s Well-Being—Kids Count Data Center
This system contains state and city-level data for over 100 measures of child well-being. The database gives you the ability to generate custom reports by geographical area (profiles) or to compare areas on a topic (by ranking, maps, and line graphs).

Health Coverage & the Uninsured
This category includes the health insurance status of the states population (those with various types of health coverage or who are uninsured), and demographic information (such as income, race/ethnicity, age, gender) for those who are uninsured, have employer-based insurance, or Medicaid.
- Health Insurance Status of Low-Income Children
Data on health insurance coverage among low-income children living near poverty (between 100 to 199% of the federal poverty level) for all states. Data are from KCMU and Urban Institute estimates based on the Census Bureau's March 2005 and 2006 Population Survey.
Managed Care and Health Insurance
This category includes data on managed care enrollment, state consumer protection laws, and state benefit requirements.
- Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs)
Updated data as of July 2006 on HMOs including total number of HMOs operating in each state, total HMO enrollment, enrollment growth from July 2005 to July 2006, and enrollment penetration rates, available by state and region.

This category includes information about the states health coverage programs for the low-income, including Medicaid and the State Children’s Health Insurance Program (SCHIP). SCHIP Spending
The state and national data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on SCHIP spending for Federal Fiscal Year 2007. Spending data are available by state share, federal share, and total expenditures. Data are available on federal SCHIP spending for each year since the program's implementation, from Federal Fiscal Years 1998 through 2007.
Health Costs and Budgets This category includes health spending; prescription drug costs and sales, employment-based insurance premiums; hospital expenses; total state budgets and state spending for health; federal taxes returned as state benefits and state tax revenue; and tobacco settlement funds.

Updated data from Verispan on prescription drugs filled at retail pharmacies in 2006 by state and region. This includes the total number of retail prescriptions drugs filled, drugs per capita, and drugs per capita by age and gender. Care of Adults With Mental Health and Substance Abuse Issues in U.S. Community Hospitals, 2004
This Fact Book, published by AHRQ, and the Healthcare Cost and Utilization Project (H-CUP), examines hospital care for adults age 18 and older with mental health or substance abuse problems who were treated for those conditions in community (as opposed to specialty) hospitals. Information on patient characteristics, length of stay for various conditions, and costs is presented as well as detailed statistics on stays related to dual diagnosis, suicide, and maternity care.
